Society6

This is a new illustration I just posted on my new page on Society6. A brilliant website that allows artists and supporters to promote other artists and works. There is also chances to enter into collaborative projects from around the world.
The standard of work on this site is pretty awe inspiring and needless to say I was intimidated putting up my illustrations. This is certainly going to be an incentive to work harder!
If you're looking to buy some art or looking for inspiration I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Mail Me Art

My submission for Mail Me Art . In its second year running, this is an open British art collective project run by Darren Di Lieto of the Little Chimp Society. Artists are asked to post a piece of original work on an envelope, box or anything that is postable to be selected for an exhibition.

My Cupboard Project.

While tidying last summer I came across a little window that had seen better days. After looking at countless before and after jobs on Design Sponge I felt inspired to do my own project. I decided it would make an interesting door for a wall mounted cupboard.
Firstly I striped it back, removing old paint, putty and remaining bits of glass (as shown in the photos above). I then sealed it with matte acrylic varnish.
I asked my brother (a much better carpenter than me!)to make up the main part of the cupboard with leftover floorboards and panelling. He also cut new glass panes for the window. I will post some more photos soon hopefully!

Knick Knacks

These are some photos I took of bits and pieces I've accumulated over the past couple of months.

New Illustrations

Lately I have been reteaching myself Photoshop for about the third time running. I never really fully got to grips with it, so this time I'm determined to learn how to use it confidently. It helps that I got a new Wacom Intuos Tablet for Christmas off my generous boyfriend. Its surprisingly easy to use, even for someone who isn't technologically talented like myself.

Another thing I've been having a go at again is lino cuts. I hadn't done one since secondary school(which is rather a long time ago). I was in New York recently buying some art materials and thought it might be nice to try something different. Gouging away at lino is a great stress reliever, so I discovered and almost quite addictive. The image above is my first attempt. I decided to keep it relatively simple so I could fill in the more detailed parts with watercolour and pencil.
